DESCRIPTION:When: Tuesday\, February 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Where: Stroud Water Research CenterCost: Free\, includes lunch. A limited number of substitute teacher stipends are available (see below). \n\n\n\nRegistration for this event has closed. \n\n\n\nDownload flyer \n\n\n\nPennsylvania Trout in the Classroom (TIC) is an interdisciplinary program that engages K-12 students in cold-water conservation while raising brook trout from eggs to fingerlings in a classroom aquarium. This workshop will provide an introduction to TIC for new teachers and program partners (TU Chapters\, Master Watershed Stewards\, and other conservation organizations\, etc.) and a refresher for those who have been involved with the program in the past. \n\n\n\nWhile exploring how TIC programs can be tailored to each educator’s unique curricular needs\, participants will dive into TIC’s exciting learning outcomes: \n\n\n\n\nRaise trout from eggs to fry.\n\n\n\nMonitor tank water quality.\n\n\n\nEngage in stream habitat study.\n\n\n\nLearn to appreciate water resources.\n\n\n\nBegin to foster a conservation ethic.\n\n\n\nGrow understanding of ecosystems.\n\n\n\n\nStipends Available\n\n\n\nSubstitute teacher stipends are available for the first 10 teacher that indicate on the registration form that they need this assistance for their school to allow them to attend. Substitute teacher stipends will be paid directly to your school at your regular substitute cost after attendance at the workshop. One stipend per school is available. These funds are made available by the Pennsylvania Watershed Education Capacity Building grant (NOAA B-WET grant # NA17NMF4570274). \n\n\n\nPresented in Partnership With
