Leaf Pack Experiment Stream Ecology Kit
Become empowered and energized learning about your local watershed!
The Leaf Pack Network® is an international network of teachers, students, and citizen monitors investigating their local stream ecosystems. Through the Leaf Pack Experiment, monitors use tree leaves and aquatic insects to determine the health of their stream and to understand its ecology.
The Leaf Pack Experiment Stream Ecology Kit includes everything you need to engage your class in this fun, hands-on experiment. Students will learn to design, implement, and analyze a scientific investigation while discovering the value of aquatic macroinvertebrates as living indicators of water quality.
The kit is reusable and flexible, adaptable to varying time constraints, number of students and grade levels, and it is geographically friendly, and complete. All the apparatus and guides necessary for collecting, sorting, and identifying macroinvertebrates are included.
The Leaf Pack Experiment Kit also includes:
- Comprehensive instructor’s manual, a valuable reference guide that includes background material on stream ecology
- Diagrammed instructions
- Experiment ideas
- Field and lab data sheets
