Bring your own lunch. \n\n\n\nHow can clumps of slimy leaves spark stream exploration? \n\n\n\nThe Leaf Pack Experiment is a fun\, hands-on research and outreach tool for citizens of all ages and teachers\, demonstrating how our actions on land impact life in streams and water quality. Leaf Pack promotes inquiry-based interdisciplinary watershed education and engages diverse audiences in conducting their own experiments\, gathering relevant ecological data\, exploring food webs\, learning classification skills\, using technology to share data\, comparing data with those of other communities and applying that information to protect local watersheds. \n\n\n\nJoin us at our workshop\, we’ll show you how! \n\n\n\nParticipants will receive an overview of stream ecology and watershed concepts based on research done at Stroud Water Research Center. Taking our boots to the stream\, we’ll experience hands-on examination of leaf packs with live aquatic macroinvertebrates\, including their identification\, and take a look at the Leaf Pack Network® website. \n\n\n\nLeaf Pack Experiment Stream Ecology Kits can be found at https://leafpacknetwork.org/resources\n\n\n\nAt the workshop you will receive: \n\n\n\n\nLeaf Pack kit give-a ways!\n\n\n\nTour of the Stroud Center’s research labs and LEED-Platinum certified building\n\n\n\nHands-on experience deploying and retrieving leaf packs from the stream\n\n\n\nTraining in macroinvertebrate ID\n\n\n\nFUN teaching techniques to bring to your classes!\n\n\n\nCertificate of participation (volunteer hours or towards teacher professional development credits)
