Prepare for the move to the new Pennsylvania Science, Technology & Engineering, Environmental Literacy, and Sustainability (STEELS) standards in 2025! This practical workshop will provide you with more than a theoretical understanding of these new standards. It will show you what real classroom instruction looks like using the new standards.

Learn about the new standards with a deep dive into a 10-lesson watershed unit for grades 4–8.

*This unit was designed following the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) framework, and it meets all the 3–5 and most 6–8 Environmental Literacy and Sustainability (3.4) standards.

Session Objectives

  • Become oriented to the new Pennsylvania STEELS standards and MWEE Essential Elements.
  • Dive into a MWEE unit for grades 4–8 that is aligned to the Pennsylvania STEELS standards
  • Identify how the MWEE and new standards can be incorporated into instruction.
