Mapping MWEEs in the NEW Pa. Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Standards
November 16 , 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM EST

- When: Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Where: Stroud Water Research Center, 970 Spencer Road, Avondale, PA 19311.
- Cost: Free, including pizza and salad lunch.
- Credits: Six Act 48 continuing education hours will be provided for Pa. Certified Teachers.
Classroom teachers, school curriculum coordinators and administrators, and nonformal educators are invited for an exploration of how the Environmental Literacy and Sustainability domain of the Pa. Science, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Literacy, and Sustainability (STEELS) K–12 Standards includes the four Essential Elements of the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) framework.
Session Objectives
- Become oriented to the new Pa. STEELS Standards and MWEE Essential Elements.
- Participate in outdoor environmental investigations (one of the MWEE elements).
- Identify how the MWEE and new standards can be incorporated into instruction.
