The goal of the project is to connect residents and communities with the river and all it has to offer as a scenic and recreational destination.
The students expressed interest in the story water-quality testing told as they traveled down the river from the mines, through the farms, and into Philadelphia.
Members of the education department participated in the Schuylkill Learning Community, an association of William Penn Foundation grantees working on projects in Pennsylvania’s Schuylkill River watershed.
This project combines sound science, public policy, and open dialogue in an effort to help municipalities in the Schuylkill River Basin of Pennsylvania protect their freshwater resources by creating riparian overlay ordinances and providing public education on the benefits of streamside forests.
