Mountaintop to Tap

Trek Video

Filmmaker Kent Garrett traveled with the trekkers to document their travel from Mountaintop to Tap.

Everyday 1.1 billion gallons of water flow from upstate streams, rivers and reservoirs into New York City — providing clean, unfiltered, high quality drinking water for 9 million people. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of a historic agreement among watershed communities and New York City to protect the land and streams in the watershed, twelve lively teenagers hike, camp, explore, take photographs, learn, and dance their way along the path of New York City’s water supply system — from Mountaintop to Tap. Along the way, they learn about earth science, ecology, history, politics...and get some big lessons in teamwork and tolerance.
