Interests and Expertise
Mary Ann Levan is interested in studying the natural world and sharing her enthusiasm with others. An interest in nature led her to degrees in biology, forest soils, soybean tillage trail research, and studies of underground root growth and soil pests. In Delaware, Levan worked on the field crew updating the Natural Resources Conservation Service soil survey. While raising and educating three sons, she pursued a degree in Montessori education and worked as an upper elementary teacher with a focus on science and math. Levan works as a part-time outdoor educator for the Delaware Nature Society as well as for Stroud Water Research Center. Her teaching mantra is “I do and I understand.”
