All the tickets for our Sustainable Splurges event, on June 6, were sold out in only two weeks. Guests who were lucky enough to get tickets enjoyed an evening of decadence and abundance from the moment they handed their cars over to the valet and walked into the beautifully restored stables at The Farm at Doe Run.
Wine, cheese, wine, chocolate, then more wine was the recommended order for guests to taste the delicious cheeses, decadent chocolates and dry, crisp wines provided by The Farm at Doe Run, Éclat Chocolate and Vox Vineti wines.
The attractively arrayed hors d’oeuvres from Terrain were available as guests sampled Dogfish Head rum and fresh garden mint in mojitos or another creative concoction produced by skilled bartenders.
Even the camaraderie of cheering for American Pharaoh — the first American thoroughbred racehorse to win the Triple Crown in 37 years — added to the festivities.
Afterward, guests wandered around the beautifully appointed property. Those who walked down to the stream were met by a Stroud Center researcher who spoke about some of the restoration work happening on the Doe Run Creek that runs through the property. Those who stayed close to the stables enjoyed the beautiful gardens, browsed the silent auction tables or admired the cars brought by one of the sponsors, Audi of Conshohocken and West Chester.
We are grateful to our hosts, attendees, volunteers and event sponsors, including: Meg and Dick Hayne, Audi of Conshohocken/West Chester, Glenmede, Riley Riper Hollin & Colagreco and Sotheby’s International Realty: Brandywine Fine Properties.
For those who missed Sustainable Splurges, please join us at the next Stroud Center event.
