Best known for his breathtaking photographs of and mission to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Banerjee is author of several books, including: Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Seasons of Life and Land, The Last Wilderness, Photographs of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Resource Wars.

Banerjee has received an inaugural Cultural Freedom Fellowship from Lannan Foundation, an inaugural Greenleaf Artist Award from the United Nations Environment Programme, a National Conservation Achievement Award from the National Wildlife Federation, a Special Achievement Award from the Sierra Club, and Housberg Award from the Alaska Conservation Foundation. Past speakers have included, Chairman, Waterkeeper Alliance, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Director of the Global Water Policy Project and prolific author, Sandra Postel, and recipient of the prestigious Audubon Medal and the Lady Bird Conservation Award, and Professor of Global Conservation at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Dr. Michael Dombeck.
