“Chalk Talk” About Our Boots-in-the-Water Education Partnership

800 600 Stroud Water Research Center

Assistant Director of Education Tara Muenz was featured in a January 2019 episode of “Chalk Talk,” a weekly radio program on 1520AM WCHE. Muenz was joined by Paul Joyce, Ed.D., Supervisor of Science, Health and Physical Fitness, Family and Consumer Science, and Technology Education for the West Chester Area School District (WCASD). Muenz and Joyce described the growing partnership between the Stroud Center and WCASD.

Students model the flow of surface water through the White Clay Creek watershed and explore the impacts of human land use decisions.

In 2017, the Stroud Center and WCASD entered into a three-year cooperative agreement with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Chesapeake Bay Program Office and Pennsylvania partners to improve and expand environmental literacy and watershed education and stewardship among Pennsylvania K-12 students and educators.

In addition, for the past two years every fourth-grade student in the WCASD has attended a full day of boots-in-the-water stream ecology programming at the Stroud Center. Learn about their experiences (including rubber ducky racing in White Clay Creek!) by listening to the complete interview below.
