Stroud Water Research Center is proud to share that Bern Sweeney, Ph.D., distinguished research scientist emeritus, is the 2024 recipient of the Ruth Patrick Award from the Association for the Science of Limnology and Oceanography.
The honor is a fitting and well-deserved one. As summarized in his nomination, “Dr. Sweeney’s contributions as a brilliant, persistent problem-solver, much like his mentor, Dr. Ruth Patrick. As a student, colleague, and lifelong friend of Dr. Patrick, Dr. Sweeney sustained a career of scientific discovery leading to environmental solutions and actions that impacted national watershed restoration efforts.”
