Informing Water Policy

Stroud Water Research Center investigates freshwater challenges and translates complex science into policy insights, grounding environmental decisions in evidence and helping policymakers and agencies reduce flooding, improve water quality, and protect wildlife and public health.

Research Behind Riparian Buffer Standards

The Stroud Center helped shape widely used riparian buffer guidance across Pennsylvania and the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Findings showing that streamside forests are needed to protect stream health have been cited by the Chesapeake Bay Program, conservation planners, and state stream-protection guidance.
