David Wise, watershed restoration manager at Stroud Water Research Center, is the 2021 recipient of the Watershed Forestry Leadership Award. Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn presented the award to Wise during the fourth annual Riparian Forest Buffer Summit held virtually in March.
The award celebrates exemplary leaders who have contributed significantly to advancing watershed forestry practices in Pennsylvania.
Wise, who joined the Stroud Center in 2013, connects the dots between partners, funders, and landowners to increase the implementation of best practices in land management. Streamside forests are one of the most important and cost-effective tools for improving stream health. By connecting landowners with incentives to plant forest buffers, Wise is helping to protect and restore streams and rivers, and ultimately ensure the availability of clean fresh water for everyone.
“Dave Wise firmly believes and consistently demonstrates that our work on buffers is better together,” Dunn said in a recent press release.
