It is with deep gratitude that we share the news that our friend and longtime board chair, Rod Moorhead, has stepped down to emeritus status. While some are familiar with Rod’s philanthropy throughout the region, you may not be as familiar with the pivotal role that Rod has played in Stroud Water Research Center’s success.
For more than 20 years, Rod Moorhead has served as the board chair for the Stroud Center, leading us through two capital campaigns. Rod has assisted with the steady growth of our freshwater research and education programs, which has had a significant and positive impact on our ability to pursue our mission. He has encouraged and supported the addition of the Robin L. Vannote Watershed Restoration Program and our communications and outreach efforts, further strengthening the Stroud Center’s impact on fresh water.
Rod leaves us in the capable hands of Porter Schutt. Porter joined our board of directors in 2015 and has served as co-chairman of the board with Rod since 2018. Porter’s success as head of Brown Advisory’s Delaware business speaks to his business acumen and leadership skills. In addition, Porter’s love for conservation and fresh water makes him the perfect person to lead the Stroud Center’s continued growth.
We expect Rod will spend his free time fishing on the Snake River with his wife, sons, and grandchildren, and we want him to know his parking spot will be waiting for him when he wants to visit.
