Slimy Leaves for Healthy Streams: A Training in the Leaf Pack Network

Participants will receive an overview of stream ecology and watershed concepts based on research done at the Stroud Center. Taking our boots to the stream, we’ll experience hands-on examination of leaf packs with live aquatic macroinvertebrates, including their identification, and take a look at the Leaf Pack Network® website.

Trails to Tailgates

Enjoy cocktails at the beautiful and historic Lucky Hill Farm before taking a short hike with Stroud Center scientists to the Stroud Preserve to learn about a six-year project in partnership with the Rodale Institute.

Youth Watershed Explorer Challenge

Calling all youths ages 12-16! Join us for a program that pairs investigative field experiences with virtual learning. Explorers will be guided through three challenges focused on the significance of First State National Historical Park's Brandywine Valley unit.

Volunteer Tree Planting

We will be planting approximately 2.75 acres with 675 trees on a primary tributary of Doe Run Creek. This planting will also serve as a research site as we will be collecting data on the growth rate of trees in two different types of tree tubes.
