Watershed Restoration Workshop

A small stream with a newly planted riparian forested buffer.
  • When: Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Where: Stroud Water Research Center, 970 Spencer Road, Avondale, PA 19311.
  • Audience: Conservation professionals and decision-makers involved in forested buffers and/or watershed restoration.
  • Cost: Free, including lunch.

Discover science-backed strategies that help stream ecosystems recover from degradation. Please dress for the weather, as there may be a creekside walk.

11:15 a.m.“Long-Term Research on Environmental Biology of White Clay Creek,” Stroud Center Senior Research Scientist John Jackson, Ph.D.
12:15 p.m.Lunch provided by the Stroud Center.
1 p.m.“Monitoring Stream Response in a Headwaters Catchment Following Whole-Farm Conservation System Implementation on All Farms,” Stroud Center Assistant Research Scientist Diana Oviedo-Vargas, Ph.D., and Stroud Center Watershed Restoration Coordinator Lamonte Garber. 
2 p.m.“Road Salt Usage as a Threat to Built Infrastructure and Water Resources,” John Jackson, Ph.D.
3 p.m.Adjourn. An optional tour of the 80-year-old forested reach on White Clay Creek may be offered. Approximately 45 minutes.
