Climate Literacy Workshop for Non-Formal Educators (Session 1)

When: Thursday, January 31 Rescheduled due to inclement weather for Wednesday, March 6, 9:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. (Session 2 will be March 7)
Where: Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center, 3400 Discovery Road, Petersburg, PA 16669
Audience: Environmental educators (non-formal, informal, field-based, naturalists)

Please join the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office, Stroud Water Research Center, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for a two-part workshop series that will convene regional science and policy leaders and educators in an collaborative learning opportunity designed to explore the science and solutions around climate change and consider how climate topics are and can be integrated within educational programming.

During this workshop series participants will:

  • Develop awareness/understanding of key aspects of locally relevant climate science;
  • Gain access to resources for teaching about climate change;
  • Experience hands-on activities for exploring issues related to climate change; and
  • Explore opportunities for stewardship actions that can address the causes and consequences of a changing climate.

NOTE: We strongly encourage participants to attend both sessions however we understand that schedules can be tight so please don’t let your ability to attend only one workshop session prevent you from registering.
