Stream and Buffer Ecology Workshop

  • Audience: Conservation professionals and decision-makers involved in forested buffers and/or watershed restoration.
  • Cost: Free, including lunch.

Join us for expert insights on stream ecology, threats to freshwater ecosystems, and the role of riparian forests in restoring them. Please dress for the weather, as there will be a creekside walk.

  1. “Forest Ecology and Riparian Reforestation,” Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay Senior Forest Projects Manager Ryan Davis.
  2. “Road Salt Usage as a Threat to Built Infrastructure and Water Resources,” Stroud Center Senior Research Scientist John Jackson, Ph.D.
12:15 p.m.Lunch provided by the Stroud Center.
12:45 p.m.Tour of the meadow and reforested reaches of White Clay Creek.
2 p.m.“Pollinators and Forested Buffers,” Ryan Davis.
3 p.m.Adjourn. An optional tour of the 80-year-old forested reach on White Clay Creek may be offered. Approximately 45 minutes.
