The Reading Eagle: Stroud Center scientist John Jackson, Ph.D., was interviewed about the health of the Schuylkill River.

The river is Berks County’s lifeblood, and a mirror of the development of southeastern Pennsylvania, said John Jackson, a researcher with the Stroud Water Research Center in Chester County. In some parts of the region, the water quality has suffered immeasurably, he said.

“This should come as no surprise,” Jackson said. “It is better than it was, but this watershed has a history of intense use.”
