Stroud Water Research Center recently participated in field days to share our knowledge about farming for clean fresh water.
Rodale Institute Organic Field Day
The Stroud Center attended Rodale Institute’s field day on Friday, July 19. Postdoctoral associate Raven Bier, Ph.D., and staff scientist Joey George gave demonstrations of our sampling methods for the 6-year project in partnership with Rodale Institute. The project, funded by the William Penn Foundation, is intended to improve soil health and water quality in the Delaware River Watershed through farming best practices.
PA No-Till Alliance Field Day
The Pennsylvania No-Till Alliance held a field day at Hershey Farm in Elizabethtown on Thursday, July 25. The Stroud Center was a lead sponsor of the event, and Lamonte Garber, watershed restoration coordinator, gave a presentation on soil and stream health.
“The farmers on our panel discussions were a valuable addition to the day,” said Garber.
Field demos and planting plots created lots of side conversations and networking. Attendees included farmers and representatives of state and local conservation agencies and organizations.
